Description

I have noticed different behaviors of photographers "hunting" for good street shots. A lot of people will see the subject, then try to frame it, and then take care of the light. Some might see the color first, and then frame a subject to complement all the colors in a scene and try to put it in a frame. Others see shapes.. squares, circles and stuff. Me? I see lights and shades, then try to look or wait for a subject to stumble into the scene. For this shot I saw something more than just the great light and shades. It was the Vietnamese flag in the background. I didn't have to wait long for the street to clear up except for a single person there. Overall I'm happy with the result :)

I tried to write a bit about how the scene symbolizes the working man striving forward to.. socialism.. I don't know.. It's just a street shot.. Don't read too much into it :P

This was taken on my second day in Vietnam, still getting used to the AI Servo of my Canon 1DX. I love shooting with narrow DOF so getting a good focus is crucial and the camera's performance was surprisingly good, even at night shots with poor lighting conditions. Using a prime lens like my 85mm can be limiting at times, but limitations encourages creativity :)
